What is Organic Coffee?
Well, let's start at the heart of the matter: the word organic.
What does it mean to be organic when we're talking about food products?
Organic means the food was produced without synthetic pesticide, herbicide and fertilizer.
It's that simple. And yes: coffee is a food.
There is a good deal of processing in order to get it to the point that we ingest it.
But, it is nonetheless food. You could eat a coffee cherry straight from the coffee tree.
But, coffee tastes much better after High Peaks Java roasts it!
High Peaks Java Organic Coffee is coffee that has been produced without synthetic pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.
As simple as that is, it does go a bit further than that.
First of all, how do we know that the coffee is produced organically?
We here at High Peaks Java believe that in order to ensure that organic coffee is produced organically, a third party must certify that it is so.
There are a few organizations that certify coffees as organic.
High Peaks Java purchases only certified organic coffee.
The certification process does not stop at the coffee farm.
It runs along the whole chain right down to you: the purchaser of High Peaks Java, whether wholesale or retail.
High Peaks Java is a certified Organic Coffee Roaster. Certified Organic by NOFA-NY, LLC.
All coffee sold by High Peaks Java is organically grown and processed.
You have our word on that!
